Aspire to be more
On Friday 10th of March, our House Captains and School Councillors from Years 5 & 6 joined 10 other schools for a day in London.
We caught the train from Preston to Euston in the morning, enjoying a packed lunch on the train. At Euston we caught a tube to Embankment. It was busy and VERY fast!
From Embankment we walked down towards the Houses of Parliament passing the London Eye on the way. From there we walked to Downing Street and Horse Guards Parade where we some huge horses and very serious Guards!
We walked through St James' Park to Buckingham Palace and then back up to the Houses of Parliament.
We had a special tour of Parliament - it was amazing seeing the House of Lords with it's gold throne! Our Guide taught us so much about Prime Ministers and the role of the Lords and MP's in the House of Commons. We all participated in a workshop that taught us about the history of Parliament - we knew a lot! Following a quick walk back to the tube station (and a VERY busy tube!) we caught the train home.
It was a very exciting day! Many thanks to Miss Cookson for arranging this visit for all the schools involved.
