After School Club

Welcome to Anne's Ark!

We provide before and after school care for children who attend St. Anne's Primary.

Breakfast club starts at 7.45am until the start of the school day. A choice of healthy breakfast items are provided for your child when they attend.

After School Club starts at the end of the school day and runs until 6pm. The children are provided with a light healthy snack and drink during the evening which is not intended to replace the evening meal but to keep them going until they get home.  There is a varied menu for snacks, including sandwiches, crumpets and toast, hot dogs and pancakes or PIZZA!, which is rotated every week so all the children have access to different snack items regardless of which days they attend. Hot Dogs seem to be a favourite! We have a nurturing approach and  encourage the children to eat together at large tables and be independent in serving themselves , buttering toast, setting the tables  and helping each other where needed whilst being supervised by members of staff.  Some are even keen to help with the washing up afterwards! We reward good manners and those that are kind and helpful.

If you wish your child to attend please contact the After School Club manager, Louise Clift, on the school office number  or email l.clift@st-annes.lancs.sch.uk to enquire.

Just some of the activities we do at After School Club include painting , dancing , playing board games and doing puzzles. The children love colouring and drawing and crafting.

When the weather heats up, we like to waterplay! Cool off our feet, and relax. Sometimes we have ice pops too!

We made our own Rememberence display at Anne's Ark last week, the children enjoyed exploring different mediums to make their poppy.

Chinese New Year- We celebrated with some Chinese crafts making dancing dragons and chinese lanterns and the children enjoyed finding out what their animal was for the year they were born.

Autumn Term Crafting

Its Pumpkin season so we have been using the knitting machine to make some stuffed Pumpkin toys. The children chose their yarns and with a little supervision cranked the handle, stuffed  and sewed. Then they foraged for little sticks in the garden to make the stalks. They're very proud of their makes!

OUR POLICIES

Breakfast and After School Club Behaviour Policy

Expectations whilst using the clubs are;

RESPECT

All children should show respectfulness to others and to be kind, this includes other children, staff and visitors to school. We expect that children use kind language and good manners. We do not tolerate abusive or hateful language or rudeness especially when speaking to staff or visitors. Children are encouraged to use THINK and this is displayed on a poster in the club building.

  • T- Is it True?
  • H- Is it Helpful?
  • I- Is it Inspiring?
  • N-Is it Necessary?
  • K- Is it Kind?

SAFETY

We expect all children to behave in a manner that does not endanger or cause harm to others. Children are asked to keep hands and feet to themselves. We do not tolerate any violent behaviour. Any child causing serious harm to another child or adult will be suspended from using the clubs and may face permanent exclusion from the clubs.

FAIRNESS

The rules and expectations apply to everyone to ensure a fair and just and inclusive environment. In the event of any altercations all the parties involved will be spoken to either as a group or individually to gain insight into what happened from all the parties involved. Any sanctions will be applied fairly and consistently to all involved where necessary.

POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT

Good behaviour is rewarded and encouraged. We currently have our ‘treasure box’ reward system where all children have a chance to ‘win’ a small toy or treat on a Friday if their name is still in the draw. We take names out if there are any incidents of negative behaviour but they can earn the right to have the name put back in by reversing the behaviour to positive. Stickers and positive language are also used.

What we expect from behaviour;

  • Listen well to others
  • Follow instructions from grown- ups / requests from staff without argument
  • Use kind and appropriate language
  • Play safely in designated areas
  • Share equipment and take turns
  • Respect resources, toys and equipment
  • Resolve conflict calmly amongst themselves or seek adult support if this cannot be done.
  • Respect all school property
  • Keep hands and feet to yourself
  • Sit quietly and listen attentively during registration and carpet time
  • Applaud politely when necessary to reward and acknowledge and show praise to peers.
  •

SANCTIONS

  • Reminder of rules up to 2 times for minor negative behaviour before further sanctions used, re direct to positive behaviour. Discussion with student to reinforce expectations.
  • Child to be asked to go to calm area or sit out for between 5 and 10 minutes depending on severity of behaviour.
  • If negative behaviour persists and is low to medium level by third instance staff may speak to parents. If this then continues, a suspension of place at club may be given. This will also be noted on CPOMs and the head teacher informed.
  • In any instance of serious harmful behaviour the child’s place will be suspended for up to one week.
  • In the instance of serious or dangerous behaviour or constant disregard for safety or rudeness to staff which occurs more than once the child’s place may be removed permanently.  This will be logged on CPOMs

BULLYING

Bullying behaviour of any kind is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Reports of bullying are taken seriously and investigated. Mediation will be used where possible between the parties involved. Students will be offered support on both sides to resolve the situation. Parents to become involved in a management plan. In this instance behaviour will be monitored and recorded on CPOMS.
