Introduction

Meet some of our Time Travellers!

Our usual Monday morning assembly was invaded by time-travellers from May 1945. They were busy celebrating VE day 1945 but were rather shocked to find themselves here in 2019!

Together, we time-travelled back to September 1939 and the outbreak of war. Over the next few months, our time-travellers have promised to come back to tell their stories and teach us about life in wartime Britain.

We would like to invite all children to join us in our time-travelling. The next time-travel for pupils will take place on Friday November 8th 2019 where they are invited to come to school dressed in typical 1940’s wartime dress. There will be a number of other dates leading up to May 8th 2020 where the children will be invited to come to school dressed up, so the outfit will be worn a number of times!

This whole school, whole year topic will lead us up to the VE Day 75th anniversary on the 8th May 2020 – the intent is that all pupils will know about and understand why we are having our National Bank Holiday on that date in 2020. We will be inviting parents along to some of our events but do please keep the afternoon of Thursday 7th May 2020 in your diary where we would love to welcome you to our VE Day street party!
